Tower Wars might be what you are looking for? It's quite a bit different than your traditional TD game in that you have to both defend against incoming foes, as well as send an attacking force against your opponent.

It's a 1v1 game, mainly set up for multiplayer, although iv had a hard time getting a game. It's much better played with friends, but there are also an abundance of CPU's available to play against, each with their own play style. It goes pretty cheap when on sale, and goes on sale frequently. I had fun with it and thought it was a great twist on TD games.
