Cat Goes Fishing is an exciting arcade game for PC with lots of challenging quests that will be a great time killer for anyone who likes cats and fishing. And here is why!

Cat Goes Fishing is all about cats as you might guess from the title. Your protagonist can’t live without fishing so your primary task in this game is to catch as many fish as you can. You will be able to upgrade your rods or purchase fishing gear on money that you can make from selling that fish. All fish are different in the game, and you need to use various baits to catch a small either huge fish. Whenever you want to catch something particular, you will need to use a smaller fish as bait. There are much more details, and I will tell you more about them below.

Graphics 4.5/5

Cat Goes Fishing has a pretty much attractive graphics on PC. I have also tried playing this game on a mobile device and wasn’t satisfied with what I saw while playing: all the images felt raw, and the overall impression was like the game’s graphics still needs some final touches to look complete. However, the PC version doesn’t have such problems at all. There are some issues with color rendition because water changes in a weird way from black to blue and gray colors; rifle-green hills always cover attractive blue sky on the background. But at least your cute protagonist - kitty looks fresh and beautiful. Also, all the fish differ by shape and color, and the game has a pretty wide range.

Cat Goes Fishing has beautiful animation: fish moves clear and smooth, and when the cat throws a fishing rod, it slowly lies down on the bottom so you can easily monitor your brightly shining bait. Before you start completing any level, you will have a chance to pick a hook of your choice. But keep in mind that it should be smaller than the fish you want to catch. The fish will try to eat each other even if they are of one species. Sometimes the big fish can take just a bite of your bait, and in this case, your catch is worthless.

Gameplay 5/5

Cat Goes Fishing doesn’t have an intricate storyline or a tricky gameplay, but it’s still quite addictive for players. There is an active marine life going on at the lake’s bottom, and some fish are predators who hunt for its prey, while other simply hang out far away from the shoreline.

Cat Goes Fishing has a few game modes, and depending on which one you've chosen, the level of the catching difficulty may vary. Sometimes you will catch a fish just a few seconds after your bait gets into the water and other times you can wait a lot until any tricky fish snaps your fishing line. So watch out, be patient and careful when you reel baits in. Also, to switch the bait’s size on a bigger one, you will need to change the size of the desired fish. This makes the catching process of the largest individuals a bit more complicated, but it’s still possible to catch them, you just need to use several smaller fish in a row before.

The game lets you sell whatever you have previously caught and make some profit from it. You can toss your catch back into the water as well; it’s up to you. When you have enough cash, you can go to the game's shop and get there some new accessories like rods, radars, maps, boats and even such items as bombs and rockets. You can also find in the shop such extra bonuses like quick deeping lures, or some things to attract or repel certain fish. If you upgrade your rod, you’re able to make a more serious catch. But to do so, you will need to avoid all the dangerous obstacles and explore the shallower waters first. Therefore, the primary reason for selling your catch is making a profit to get some nice perks and equipment and catch even more fish than you could before.

Cat Goes Fishing also has some additional quests with tasks similar to catch an individual fish or a particular number of them. For completing those quests you will get some additional bonuses, but those quests are still optional. I’d suggest you check them out because I had a lot of fun while playing.

Controls 5/5

Cat Goes Fishing was primarily developed for PC and got lots of fans of the arcade genre quite fast. No wonder why because the game is simple to play and has good enough and intuitive mouse controlling. Playing this game with the touch controls didn’t feel the same as it would be on PC. Therefore, I understand the veterans of Cat Goes Fishing who still prefer a PC version instead of the mobile one.

Replay Value 4.5/5

Cat Goes Fishing doesn’t have a complex gameplay or an intricate storyline but still, keeps you entertained for dozens of hours. The game has nice graphics and beautiful animation that make it enjoyable to play. Keep in mind that there are lots of additional quests available for you so that you can play them during the main game or after you complete all the basic missions. So Cat Goes Fishing has much more to offer you than just a simple fishing

In-app purchases

Cat Goes Fishing doesn’t have any in-game purchases to offer. It also doesn’t have any distracting ads so you can enjoy the gaming process from the beginning till the end.

Steredenn gameplay. I end up blowing up at Stage 3-3 because I tried to get fancy. I DO try to show some weapons, but some are too good for situations (I end up spamming Ultralaser then Flamethrower laser and keeping Shield like a bad player). I also go after Health +2 because I suck at the dodging.

Conclusion

Cat Goes Fishing gives you a pleasant arcade playing experience and will easily keep you busy for dozens of hours. Starting out on an abandoned island with a basic rod and becoming a pro fisher-cat who is completing tough missions and searching for the most dangerous prey couldn’t be more fun.
